Backward compatible platform
Basic Information

A Backward compatible platform is a platform introduced later than the game was initially released, that is capable of playing that game. For example, Mass Effect was initially released on the Xbox 360, however, it was also made compatible with the Xbox One. Another example is Final Fantasy VII; this was originally released on the PlayStation, however, the original PlayStation CD-ROM can be played on both the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3.
