Backyard Football is a series of video games for various systems. Currently, all the video games in the series have been developed by Humongous Entertainment and published by Atari. It is one of several sub-series in the Backyard Sports franchise, and is the first to feature professional players as kids, examples being Steve Young and Barry Sanders.
Backyard Football attempts to recreate the experience of playing American football as children.
The cover athletes have been: 1999 Steve Young, 2002 Drew Bledsoe, 2003 Donovan McNabb, 2004 Jeff Garcia, 2006 Daunte Culpepper, 2007 Ben Roethlisberger, 2008 and 2009 Tom Brady, 2010 Frank Gore, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Adrian Peterson, Kurt Warner, and Jason Witten.

In one of Chuck Downfield's remarks before the game he tries to remember when he played for either the Ravensdale Roughriders or The Ravensdale Rough Riders. A spoof of a time where the Canadian Football League had two teams with almost identical names: the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Ottawa Rough Riders.
