Baron Fortesque is the creator of the Chaos Engine and in general a guy of questionable morals. In The Chaos Engine he ends up becoming a captive of the machine he created. After escaping at the end of the game it seems he hadn't learnt his lesson as he's at it again in The Chaos Engine 2.
