Beenox is a video game developer, established in Québec City, Québec. Founded in 2000 by Dominique Brown. Beenox has been awarded with the Quebec's Best Employer 2008 title and is among the Top 50 of the World’s best video game developers published in March 2008 by the Game Developers Research. The studio became a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision in 2005.[1]

Between 2002 and 2006, Beenox was essentially a porting house. Beenox completed approximately 30 projects for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS, based on popular franchises such as X-Men, Spider-Man and Shrek. In 2006, Beenox returned to original game development, with Bee Movie Game, inspired by the upcoming feature film from DreamWorks Animation. As part of Activision's E3 2007 media blitz it was announced that Beenox was the developer behind the Windows version of Activision's upcoming Spider-Man game Spider-Man: Friend or Foe which was released October 2, 2007.[2]
Beenox employs about 440 employees who are developing games for consoles such as PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Beenox has recently released the Wii and PC versions of Quantum of Solace as well as the Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, Wii and PC versions of Monsters vs. Aliens and console versions of 'Guitar Hero Smash Hits. Beenox's newest release was Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.[3] that came out on Sept. 7th 2010.
Beenox has received more than 35 awards since its creation in 2000. Among those recognitions are the Quebec's Best Employer title in 2008 and the Company of the year award in 2006, by the Quebec Chamber of Commerce. Dominique Brown also won several prizes, among which is the Young Business Personality of the year by the Quebec Young Chamber of Commerce in 2005 and, more recently, the 2008 Business Personality of the Year by the Le Soleil newspaper and Radio-Canada network.
