Darkspore is a sci-fi action role-playing game, based partially on the 2008 video game Spore. It is described as "a fast-paced, sci-fi Action-RPG in which the player battles across alien worlds to save the galaxy from the mutated forces of Darkspore.".[1] The game was released on April 26, 2011, for Windows. It features a similar version of the award-winning real-time character creation and editing technology first seen in Spore. However, unlike Spore, players cannot create characters. They can, however, edit certain characters, to a limited extent though.
Demo version[ | ]
There's a demo version available (EA account required). It is accessed by downloading Darkspore from their official site (download is free, the key is what costs money), logging-in, and selecting 'Play Demo'. It's just like the full game, except the player can only reach Crogenitor Level 9 and play up-to Darkspore Threat 2-2.
Limited Edition[ | ]
On November 3, 2010, the main Darkspore website was updated with new, drastically different graphics and layout, a Tumblr feed, and an offer to pre-order Darkspore to receive a Limited edition version that would immediately unlock the unique Quantum Ravager, called "Maldri, the Quantum Raider", along with 3 exclusive stat-boosting items, one with a stat the occurs nowhere else in-game.
This offer expired on January 31, 2011, but unsold copies of the Limited Edition can still be found in various places that sell games.
