Deadmines is a five-player dungeon in World of Warcraft. There are two different versions: a level 15 version, and a level 85 heroic version that was added with World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

Story[edit | edit source]

With the release of Cataclysm, the Deadmines have been updated to reflect time gone by. As revealed by a "vision of the past" quest chain in Westfall, the daughter of Edwin VanCleef runs out of the cabin of the ship, and cries out "Daddy...". As the storyline in Westfall unfolds, a prominent figure disguised in a black silhouette seems to be recruiting forces to take over Westfall and eventually heads to Stormwind City.

When the player gets to Sentinel Hill, the black figure introduces herself as Vanessa VanCleef, who sets Sentinel hill ablaze and retreats to the Deadmines.

Layout[edit | edit source]

Deadmines is an underground mining network of caves and tunnels underneath Westfall. The Defias Brotherhood made this their base of operations under the leadership of Edwin VanCleef, and up until World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, they were the primary threat.

SI:7 operatives have been investigating the situation happening in Westfall and traced it to the mine works down in the tunnels.

A few open tunnels and several trash mobs later, players will reach a circular room. Glub'tok is fought here.

The Mast Room is located about halfway down the mines, and is guarded by oafs and goblins. Helix Gearbreaker is fought here.

The Goblin Foundry is located towards the bottom of the mines. Once the door is open, a few Goblins manage to escape warning the players of something killing all the goblins. There is giant furnace in the center, as well as various machinery parts and metal scraps lie. Some mechanical foes await at the bottom, and once killed, the battle with Foe Reaper 5000 begins.

The Ironclad Cove contains a massive ship that lay stationary in the center, defenses are bolstered with parrots patrolling the sky, and cannon fire raining down on the nearby boardwalks. Admiral Ripsnarl oversees the other side of the ship, and once defeated, a strange silhouette appears. "Captain" Cookie's runs out and jumps into a giant boiling pot, starting the fight.

Vanessa VanCleef only appears in the heroic version, as the end boss.
