Death Stranding is a 2019 action game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4.
First announced in 2016, the game is the first game developed by Hideo Kojima following his departure from Konami.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
Death Stranding is an open-world action game. The player controls Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus), a courier tasked with delivering cargo across various cities in a post-apocalyptic America, while connecting them to a communications system called the "Chiral Network". Various factors, including the amount of cargo being carried and how the cargo is organized, will affect Sam's ability to move through the environment.
Plot[edit | edit source]
In the near future, the world has been ravaged by the "Death Stranding", a cataclysm caused by "Beached Things" (BTs) - invisible beings originating from the "Beach", a realm said to be the link to the afterlife. Created by the necrosis of human corpses, BTs hunt humans, creating explosions called "voidouts" when consuming them.
Development[edit | edit source]
The release date was announced on May 29, 2019[1].
Reception[edit | edit source]
Death Stranding received generally favorable but polarized reviews.
