== Gameplay == ''Eschalon: Book II'' is played from a [[isometric perspective]] with [[turn-based]] combat. The player controls one character which he creates at the beginning of the game. Although mostly similar to the first instalment of the series there are some notable differences between the two games.<ref>[http://www.geardiary.com/2010/05/16/pc-rpg-first-impressions-eschalon-book-2/ PC RPG First Impressions: Eschalon Book 2] Gear Diary, May 16, 2010 (Article by Michael Anderson)</ref> Your character now needs to eat and drink to survive, although this can be disabled by an option available in the menu if desired.<ref name="interview"/> Similarly, unless an option is selected by the player items and equipment will now degrade with use.<ref>[http://www.basiliskgames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=10770&highlight=#10770 Thomas Riegsecker (BasiliskWrangler) at the Basilisk Games Forums]</ref> Weather effects were also added, with the developer noting that weather is not only a visual effect but will also affect how the game plays.<ref name="interview"/> Additional changes include the ability to choose the gender of your character<ref name= "interview" >http://www.rpgwatch.com/show/article?articleid=93&ref=0&id=328 Eschalon: Book II Interview</ref> as well as now being playable in 1024x768 resolution.<ref name="main">http://basiliskgames.com/book2.html Basilisk games website</ref>
