Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix is the prequel to Fear Effect. This game gives players an insight into the previous adventures of the characters in Fear Effect and also shows what brings them together in the first place. The game also gained notoriety through a suggestive ad campaign teasing at the sexual relationship between the two female protaginists, as well as making their relationship a central element in the game's story.
