Personality[ | ]
One of the most prominant features of Gruntilda is her stereotypical witch ways: flying on a broomstick, creating stuff in a cauldron, green skin, huge nose, black cap and gown, etc. She speaks in rhyme when she talks, and it doesn't take long to get annoyed by her. She is very arrogant, specifically when it comes to Banjo & Kazooie overcoming obstacles. Despite her arrogant ways, she is very clever and mischievious, you won't know what she will do to keep herself on top. She often breaks the 4th wall. When with her other "evil" sisters, she assumes the role of leadership and insults their stupidity.
Appearances[ | ]
Banjo-Kazooie[ | ]
Gruntilda starts the events of Banjo-Kazooie by kidnapping Tooty, Banjo the Honey Bear's sister. As Banjo and Kazooie travel throughout her lair, she taunts the heroic duo. As the duo are close to the top of the tower, Gruntilda challenges them to "Grunty's Furnace Fun", a trivia game about the past worlds and characters.
After the duo have rescued Tooty, Gruntilda flees to the top of her lair. Banjo and Kazooie celebrate their victory, but Tooty soon reminds them that Gruntilda is still at the top of her lair. The duo race back into the lair. Banjo and Kazooie release a large blue Jinjo, known as the Jinjonator, who defeats Gruntilda and sends her off the side of her lair. She plummets the ground and is buried under a large boulder.
Banjo-Tooie[ | ]
Years after the final events of Banjo Kazzoie Gruntilda manages to escape from the boulder in Spiral Mountain. Although just clothes and bones now, she wants to eliminate Banjo once and for all. Her and her sisters conjure up a scheme to Banjo and Kazzoie for good without them even knowing about it. Back at the Banjo house, Banjo, Kazzoie, Bottles, and Mumbo Jumbo are playing cards. A racket is heard from outside - Banjo, Kazzoie, and Mumbo leave the house to investigate, leaving Bottles inside to cheat. Gruntilda and her sister have created a tunneling machine that is going straight towards Banjo's house! At least everyone is safe says Banjo until they look around and Bottles is nowhere to be seen. Bottles, burnt to a crisp from the machine's laser, stumbles out of the house and dies on the ground. Gruntilda escapes through the Wickybunion Cavern, and Banjo, Kazzoie, and Mumbo are all very angry, so Banjo tells Kazzoie it's time to go for another adventure to defeat her for good this time!
