Wizard of Wor (The Incredible Wizard on the Bally Astrocade) is an arcade game released in 1981. The game was later ported to the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, and Bally Astrocade.

Gameplay[ | ]

One or two players simultaneously play as Worriors, knights with powerful beam weapons that can destroy monsters known as Worlings inside dangerous mazelike dungeons. Some of these Worlings can turn invisible and won't reappear until they're ready to strike, so use the radar to keep track of your prey before you become theirs. Destroy all the Worlings in the maze and a Worluk will appear, challenging you to destroy him before he exits the maze. Get him and you'll get double points for everything you shoot in the next maze. Occasionally, the Wizard himself will appear, teleporting himself all around the maze and shooting lightning bolts.

The arcade game is noted for giving players the choice of starting the game with double the amount of Worriors a single game credit will give by adding additional credits into the machine. In some regions, the player can have 2 or 5 Worriors to start with; in other regions, it is 3 or 7 Worriors, depending on the operator's setting.
