FinnWars is a mod for the retail computer game Battlefield 1942 (2002).[1] The mod is a total conversion and depicts Finland's military involvement in World War II during 1939 to 1945. Gameplay focuses on winter warfare maps using Finnish and Russian weapons and equipment, in re-creations of historical battles of Winter War and Continuation War that Finland was involved in. Germany is included in Continuation War fighting side by side the Finns against Soviet Union, but Finland turns guns against Germans in Lapland War. Also included are various tweaks and changes over vanilla Battlefield 1942, such as new tank steering and realistic weapon balances.

The mod had the name Finlandiamod early in development, but this was soon changed to FinnWars. The first public release (0.5), an open beta test, was announced as FinnWars - Winter Wars in February 2004. Another major content version was released in June that same year.

FinnWars was featured in Pelit magazine in issue 9/2005,[1] and PC Pelaaja in 2007.[2]
