It is #210 in the National Pokédex. The name "Granbull" originates from "grand" or the Spanish word "gran", which means "great", and "bulldog". ==Characteristics== Granbull can be described as a large, purple, bipedal bulldog with a pair of imposing, heavy fangs protruding from its lower jaw. The lower jaw is quite developed and, taken together with the fangs, heavy enough that Granbull must constantly decide between tipping its head back for balance and tilting its head down for decreased energy exertion. As its large mouth and fangs are built specifically for offense, Granbull can bite with a crushing amount of power. Granbull's vicious appearance is a natural intimidation tactic meant to discourage any other Pokémon from assaulting it. In spite of its appearance, however, Granbull is not at all aggressive or feisty. In fact, it is rather timid and easily spooked, and it only defends itself in retaliation to an assault upon it. When it is attacked by another Pokémon in the wild, Granbull flails about with its limbs to ward off its attacker. Generally, the circumstances under which Granbull uses its powerful mouth to attack are when it is startled and when directed by a trainer. ==Appearance== Granbull evolves from Snubbull at level 23. Therefore, the availability of Snubbull dictates the availability of Granbull. Granbull is, however, available in the wild in the Crystal version, on Route 6 in the morning and afternoon. Granbull has the ability "Intimidate" which lowers the foe's attack when Granbull is sent out against it. In Diamond and Pearl, Granbull receives the ability Quick Feet, which raises its speed by 50% when suffering from a special condition. This could make up for its mediocre speed. ==Anime== A Granbull accompanies a Larvitar and a Kecleon at a large mansion in the short movie "Pikachu's Pikaboo" that accompanies "Pokémon 4Ever". It is quite courteous with Pikachu and pals and agrees to be part of a large game of hide-and-seek, and it is among the many Pokémon that get terrorized by a deranged lawnmower. In the episode "The Trouble With Snubbull" the Snubbull following Team Rocket evolved into a Granbull and came home with its owner. In the episode "Ring Masters" in the Johto saga a Granbull wrestles a Feraligatr but is quickly defeated. Granbull also appears in Pokemon 3: The movie and is the Pokémon Lisa first uses to fight in the opening scene against Ash's Totodile. ==Manga== In the Pokémon Special manga, a Granbull appeared in Volume 8, where it was stealing Pokémon to get attention as its jaw was dislocated. When Gold accidentally knocks its jaw into relocation, it happily returns all the Pokémon it took. Blue's Snubbull evolved in Granbull in the Sevii Islands. ==Trading Card game== Granbull is possibly one of the most neglected second-generation Pokémon in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Currently, Granbull has only appeared in 2 sets: Neo Genesis and Skyridge. It did however make an appearance in EX Unseen Forces. ==References== *The following games and their instruction manuals: Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue; Pokémon Yellow; Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2; Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal; Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald; Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen; Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness <!--;Notes <references /> -->;Publications<!-- *Nintendo Power.
