Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup is a 2003 video game produced by EA Games and EA Sports that features the fictional sport of Quidditch from the Harry Potter universe. The user plays for the Hogwarts Quidditch Cup, competing amongst the four houses of Hogwarts Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, and then takes on the Quidditch World Cup, competing between the United States, England, France, Germany, Scandinavia (the "Nordic Team"), Japan, Spain, Australia and Bulgaria.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Hogwarts[edit | edit source]

In this stage, the user practices using Hogwart's teams, such as Harry Potter's Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Draco Malfoy's Slytherin. When the user picks a team, the character flies on its broomstick to join the rest of the team. The first three challenges (Passing, Tackle, and Shoot, Seeker) are unlocked for the user, but the remaining moves (Beating Bludgers, Special Moves, Combos) the user must unlock by beating a certain number of challenges and Quidditch matches.

When the user beats all the challenges, you are ready to play a Quidditch match. Only Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are unlocked in the game. In order to unlock the other Quidditch matches, the user must beat a certain number of matches. When the user wins, the seeker will stand up, jump, try to catch the Snitch, fall and finally catch it.

Exhibition[edit | edit source]

Exhibition is when two people play each other. The user can play House team vs. House team or World Cup team vs. World Cup team. The user automatically obtains England's and USA's grounds at the beginning, but to obtain the other grounds the user needs to beat the team away in the world cup.

Every time the user passes or shoots the Quaffle in the goals your Golden Snitch bar goes up. Once the Golden Snitch Bar is filled, the user plays the teams seeker and attempts to catch the Snitch. Usually, if you've completed most of the bar, you get more speed. When the user catches the Golden Snitch, the match has ended and the users' team wins.

World Cup[edit | edit source]

The World Cup stage is very similar to the Hogwarts stage, only that you are playing as a world-renound team rather than as a house. Your goal: to win the World Cup. There are many different teams from around the world, such as Japan, Australia, USA, England, and of course Bulgaria, with the 'Bulgarian bon-bon' himself, Victor Krum as seeker.
