Image Policy - Video game articles
Sub-articles

All images added to this wiki must preferably be "free-use". That is, they must be either:

  • Public domain, or
  • Licensed by the copyright holder under a licence that allows anyone to reuse the images.

However, since this wiki is for documenting video games, images of box art and like images should fall under fair use for descriptive purposes.

Uploading

Make sure images are clear when they are uploaded! Do not upload fuzzy images, or images with tags or watermarks on them.

  • To upload images you must be logged in.
  • Click on "Upload file" in the Tools section on the left sidebar.
  • The "Browse" button lets you find the image on your hard drive. Click "open" to select the file.
  • If you want to change the file name, you can do so in the "Destination filename" box.
  • Use the "Summary" box to enter the source of the file as well as any other pertinent information; the {{Image}} template should also be used here.
  • The drop-down under "Licensing" should be used to confirm the license that the image falls under.
  • Click "Upload".

You will be warned if the name will be changed or if there is already a file with that name. You can then decide whether to go ahead or to abandon the upload.

Where can I use images?

In general, images are free to be used in all namespaces except User and User_talk. Because we use images under a fair use system, this precludes images being used for pages not related to their intended purpose.
