Hironobu Sakaguchi is one of the more famous game designers in the industry thanks to his contributions to certain Squaresoft titles, such as the Final Fantasy series and Chrono Trigger. He later left square in 2001 to form a new development company, Mistwalker, which is has already released two Xbox 360 RPGs, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey, as well as three Nintendo DS games.

He attempted to apply his success as a designer into movies with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, but the bombed at the box office, losing Square lots of money, and almost caused Squaresoft to shut down.
