Mighty is a ranged weapon item property that allows some of that character's strength modifier to be added to the physical damage inflicted using ranged weapons attacks. The Mighty modifier applies up to and including the character's Strength modifier, but no more than the Mighty amount.
Darts and throwing axes are automatically "mighty" up to the character's Strength modifier. (Therefore, having the mighty property on these weapons does nothing to the damage output of the character.)
Shortbows, Longbows and slings are automatically "Mighty +0", meaning that without an explicit Mighty property, the only circumstances in which the damage of these weapons is affected by Strength is when the character has a negative Strength modifier.
Light Crossbows, Heavy Crossbows and shurikens are unaffected by the character's Strength modifier, unless that crossbow or shuriken has a "Mighty" property. So, a Wizard with 8 Strength will not have a damage penalty wielding a crossbow or shuriken, as long as that weapon does not have a "Mighty" property.
