The Miranda class is a type of starship that has made an appearance in several Star Trek video games, such as Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. It is most often portrayed as a Destroyer-type ship.

Overview

The Miranda class first appeared in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, represented by the U.S.S. Reliant. It has many similarities to the refitted Constitution class.

A Starfleet vessel used primarily for scientific missions. The Miranda, unlike the smaller Oberth class, is equipped with both phasers and photon torpedoes.

Tier I

The Miranda-class escort is often seen accompanying Oberth-class scout vessels. It is built for combat, with good shields and respectable armament. The Miranda is best used to discourage raids and other minor border incursions.

Tier II

The improved Miranda-class light escort is faster and better armed version than the original. With its larger engines, it can respond more quickly to enemy incursions. The upgraded Miranda's superior weapons, shields and targeting systems greatly improve its combat performance.
