NBA 2K is a 1999 sports video game developed by Visual Concepts and published by Sega Sports. It was initially released for the Dreamcast, and is the first installment of the NBA 2K series. The cover features Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The game is based on the National Basketball Association and, as such, allows the player to compete in basketball games with the current NBA season's players and teams.

The game modes feature Exhibition, Seasons, Playoffs, Practice, and Customizations. In Customizations, the player can create a fake or real NBA player and/or team. They may also change their team's starting lineups. Also, players can move onto different rosters. You can also import created players and teams to another person's Dreamcast.

Reception[ | ]

NBA 2K received "favorable" reviews from review aggregation website GameRankings, and received a 33 out of 40 on Famitsu magazine. Praise was directed towards the visuals and controls in particular, while criticism was aimed at the lack of all-around polish.
