NBA Hang Time began as an arcade game before being ported to home consoles. It has more in common with NBA Jam than NBA Jam '99. Being an arcade game, it focuses on fun, pick-up-and-play gameplay over realism and rules. Fouls, technical fouls, and I hear even downright choking is all legal. But that's okay, since everything else, such as the dunks, are just as absurd.

The court features 2 people per team. That gives you a maximum of 4 players on the N64. You choose from all real basketball players. The only ones not available are a few no-names like Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal and Michael Jordan.

One of the nice modes the game offers is a Create-a-player mode. These created players are often better than the normal players since there are attributes that can only be assigned to them. The graphics have less to gush about. They are very much like NBA Jam, with big heads and lots of pixels. The sprites just seem bigger, and maybe there's more color.
