Nero is the one of the main protagonists of the Devil May Cry series. Since his first appearance in Devil May Cry 4, Nero has been the main protagonist and a playable character of the games.

Development

Appearance

Like his father and uncle, Nero has white-grey hair, a sign of his demonic heritage. In his first appearance, his appearance was largely similar to Dante (long hair, overcoat and boots, and stylized European/Gothic elements within the attire), albeit with a different color palette (dark blue with red accents). The most notable element of his appearance is his lower right arm (called "the Devil Bringer"), which is scaly with glowing blue accents. This unique appendage is the manifestation of Nero's demonic blood.

In Devil May Cry 5, Nero's hair is cut in a faux hawk. His attire, while composed of the same elements as the previous game, has a more modern aesthetic. His Devil Bringer (which is ripped off in the game's prologue) is replaced by robotic arms called "Devil Breakers".

Personality

Nero is slightly brash somewhat resembling his uncle but is more timid.

Trivia

  • Since he is only a quarter demon, his Yamato devil trigger summons a spectral demon conjoined to him to aid him in battle.

This spectral demon is actually Vergil's Yamato devil trigger - this intellectually shows his weak demon heritage and his lineage with Vergil.

  • The aura of his devil trigger is blue , just like his father's.
  • He had an unexplained inclination towards the Yamato.
  • In Devil May Cry 4 he had struggled with his uncle at first but eventually became at par with him, just as Dante had done with Vergil in the previous game
