NihongoUp is an Adobe AIR desktop Japanese educational game and reviewing tool. The program features several game modes which allow the player to improve his kana typing and reading speed, review JLPT kanji and vocabulary, and learn Japanese grammar in context. The game is compatible with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. An iPhone version of the game is also available.

Features[edit | edit source]

NihongoUp is separated into four different modes. In the Hiragana and Katakana modes, the player is supposed to shoot down balloons by typing the correct reading of the characters written on them. In the Kanji, Vocabulary, Particles and Counters modes, the player is presented with an incomplete sentence and must choose the correct character or word to be placed into the marked part of the sentence.

Awards and recognition[edit | edit source]

  • NihongoUp is a Serious Games Showcase & Challenge winner[1]
