Air Lock[edit | edit source]

Battle: Negates any and all weather effects in battle.

Arena Trap[edit | edit source]

Battle: Prevents Pokémon from fleeing or being switched out. Flying-type Pokémon and Pokémon with the abilities Levitate and Run Away are unaffected by Arena Trap.

Battle Armor[edit | edit source]

Battle: Opponent's attacks cannot Critical Hit.


Blaze[edit | edit source]

Battle: When HP is below one third, Fire's power increases to 1.5 times.

C[edit | edit source]

Cacophony[edit | edit source]

Battle: Pokémon with this ability is ineffected by sound moves. This is an unused ability, coded in the game, but no Pokémon have it. Exactly the same as Soundproof.

Chlorophyll[edit | edit source]

Battle: Speed is raised by 2 levels in sunshine.

Clear Body[edit | edit source]

Battle: Opponents' moves which lower this POKéMON's ability values have no effect. However this POKéMON may lower its own stats with its own moves.

Cloud Nine[edit | edit source]

Battle: All weather effects are negated while the pokémon is on the field.

Color Change[edit | edit source]

Battle: This pokémon's type becomes the type of the last damaging move which hit it.

Battle: Raises the pokémon's accuracy by 30%.

Field: If the pokémon is in the lead spot, chance of encountering a wild pokémon holding an item increases.

Cute Charm[edit | edit source]

Battle: If the foe attacks using a move that makes physical contact, it will become infatuated.

Damp[edit | edit source]

Battle: Explosion and Selfdestruct will not work while the Pokémon is on the field.

Drizzle[edit | edit source]

Battle: Weather changes to heavy rain when the Pokémon enters the battle.

Drought[edit | edit source]

Battle: Weather changes to sunshine when the Pokémon enters battle.

Early Bird[edit | edit source]

Battle: The Pokémon will awake from sleep twice as fast.

Effect Spore[edit | edit source]

Battle: The opponent has a 10% chance of being induced by PARALYZE, POISON, or SLEEP when using an attack, that requires physical contact, against this POKéMON.

Flame Body A pokemon that comes into contact with a pokemon with this ability may be burned[edit | edit source]

Flash Fire[edit | edit source]

Battle: Activates when user is hit by a damaging Fire-type move (including Fire-type Hidden Power). Once activated, user's Fire-type moves deal 1.5 times damage. While this ability is in effect, this Pokémon is immune to damage from Fire-type attacks. For Fire-type Pokémon with this ability, Will-O-Wisp activates this ability without having an effect. If a non-Fire-type Pokémon has this ability, Will-O-Wisp will activate the ability and will have an effect.

Battle: Pokémon with this ability cannot be made to flinch. The exception to this rule is when hit after tightening focus (i.e. when using Focus Punch).



Insomnia[edit | edit source]

Battle: Pokémon with this ability can't be put to sleep


Intimidate[edit | edit source]

Battle: Upon entering battle, the opponent's Attack lowers one stage. In a Double Battle, both opponents' Attack are lowered.


Field: If the Pokémon is in the lead spot, chance of encountering a low level wild Pokémon decreases by 50%. This applies to POKéMON five levels lower than or below the level of the lead Pokémon.

Battle: Pokémon with this ability are immune to attacks that lower Accuracy (e.g. Sand Attack).

Battle: Draws electrical moves in a double battle, protecting ally from harm.

Field: Player receives 10% more phone calls if this Pokémon is in the party's first slot.

Limber[edit | edit source]

Battle: The Pokémon cannot be Paralyzed while having this ability.

Liquid Ooze[edit | edit source]

Battle: When moves such as Leech Seed, Absorb, Mega Drain, Giga Drain and Drain Punch are used on a Pokémon with this ability, it hurts the user instead of restoring HP. The Pokémon the attack is used on will also be hurt.

Pressure[edit | edit source]

Battle: When this Pokémon is hit by any move, the user's PP goes down by 2 instead of 1.

Field: The chance of encountering a high-level Pokémon is decreased by 50% when this Pokémon is in the first slot.

Battle: The opponent is hurt by 1/16th of his maxium Hit Points of recoil when using an attack, that requires physical contact against this Pokémon.

Battle: Increases chances of escaping from wild Pokémon (not foolproof).

Sand Stream[edit | edit source]

Battle: Changes the weather to a sandstorm when user enters battle.

Sand Veil[edit | edit source]

Battle: Raises the Pokémon's evasion during a sandstorm by one level.

Field: If the Pokémon in the lead spot, chance of encountering a wild Pokémon during a sandstorm decreases to 50%.


Serene Grace[edit | edit source]

Battle: Promotes added effects. For example, Dragonbreath has a 30% chance of Paralyzing the target. With Serene Grace in play, that chance doubles to 60%.

Shadow Tag[edit | edit source]

Battle: The opponent cannot run nor switch. If this POKéMON switches, the opponent will remain trapped.

Shed Skin[edit | edit source]

Battle: Grants the Pokémon a 1 in 3 chance of recovering from a permanent (e.g. burn, freeze) status condition.

Shield Dust[edit | edit source]

Battle: Prevents added effects from damaging moves. E.g. Fake Out will only do damage and will not cause this Pokémon to flinch.

Shell Armor[edit | edit source]

Battle: The user will block any Critical Hits from any opposing Pokémon.

Battle: Speed increases by one stage each turn each turn except the turn that the Pokémon is switched into battle.

Static[edit | edit source]

Battle: The opponent has a 30% chance of being induced with PARALYZE when using an attack, that requires physical contact, against this Pokémon.

Field: If the pokémon is in the lead spot, chance of encountering an Electric-type wild pokémon increases by 50%.


Stench[edit | edit source]

Field: When this Pokémon is in the first slot, chance of encountering a wild Pokémon is decreased to 50%. In Battle Pyramid, it decreased to 75%.

Sturdy[edit | edit source]

Battle: The Pokémon is unaffected by One Hit Knock Out moves.


Sticky Hold[edit | edit source]

Battle: Moves such as Thief, Covet and Trick will not work.

Field: When fishing, Pokémon are easier to catch.

Swift Swim[edit | edit source]

Battle: Raises SPEED by 2 stages in rain.

Synchronize[edit | edit source]

Battle: When this POKéMON becomes POISON, PARALYZE, or BURN, so does the opponent. However, Fire-type and Water Veil ability POKéMON cannot be BURNed, Poison-type and Steel-type and Immunity ability POKéMON cannot be POISONed, and Limber ability POKéMON cannot be Paralyzed.

Field: If the POKéMON is in the lead spot, chance of encountering a wild POKéMON with the same nature will be 50%.
