Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is a third-person action adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft. It is the second game in the Sands of Time trilogy and the sequel to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Gameplay[ | ]

The gameplay is largely similar to The Sands of Time, with environmental navigation and time powers being much of the focus. The rewind and slow time powerrs from the first game return and several new offensive powers are added.

The save system has been somewhat revamped. Instead of pillars of sand that allow the Prince to save and show him where to go, saving is accomplished at water fountains. This eliminates the possibility of saving with little health and beingunable to proceed. Directions as to where to go are accomplished by camera pans upon entering a room.

The biggest change from the previous game is the combat system. Whereas Sands of Time was criticized for its very simple block/attack system and consequently easy final boss fight, Warrior Within adds a fairly deep combo system and the ability to use a variety of secondary weapons.

Atmosphere[ | ]

Sands of Time had a fairy tale/1001 nights feel, where Warrior Within is much darker and more violent. The relatively mild violence of the first game (against creatures made of sand) is replaced with graphic impaling and decapitations and the Prince himself has a much harsher attitude. Many of the enemies are highly exualized. These changes received a decidedly mixed reaction from reviewers.

Glitches[ | ]

Warrior Within has an unusually high number of severe bugs for a high-profile console game from a major developer. See the walkthrough section for details and workarounds.

Revelations[ | ]

Warrior Within was originally released for GameCube, PlayStation 2, Windows and Xbox. A version for PlayStation Portable was later released under the title Prince of Persia: Revelations. It has some added content including new rooms and puzzles.
