Sumo Digital Ltd. is an independent game development studio based in Sheffield, United Kingdom. Set up in 2003 following the closure of Infogrames Studios Sheffield (formally Gremlin Interactive). Sumo currently employs 100 experienced development staff, many of whom have been working together for the last 12 years.

The company was formed by Carl Cavers, Paul Porter, Darren Mills and James North-Hearn, who were the management team at Infogrames Sheffield House. The Infogrames Sheffield Studio itself was originally Gremlin Interactive (prior to Infogrames buying the company from Ian Stewart).

Sumo is licensed to develop on all the leading gaming platforms; Sony PSP, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Xbox, Wii and Nintendo DS.

Currently they have several titles in production, including work on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Network, Xbox 360, PSP and Nintendo DS.

On August 17, 2007, Sumo Digital was acquired by Foundation 9 Entertainment.[1] Sumo will continue to run as an independent studio, as all Foundation 9 studios do.
