New Homepage

Excellent layout Kyle just need something below the feature image because of the gap --Cs california 09:16, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

heh, it's a start, but it should give you an idea of what I had in mind. One thing that I realized is that the "New and Notable" and "News" can kind of be combined--it can feature both important industry news, as well as wiki news. The best part is that most of the time, these overlap because, for example, we want to feature a wiki because a game or expansion was just released. --KyleH (talk) 14:51, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
I liked it before when the news and feature image was swaped. It made it feel more like wikipedia. And is easier to spot. I would suggest to put news where the feature image is, move feature image to where the Browse Wiki Gaming currently is, and Browse Wiki Gaming should be moved where News and Events currently is. Also make sure bounding boxes are all aligned.

For the Browse Wiki Gaming, have a link to the community portal, and also instead of having big letters swap to small graphical icons.

Next thing to work on would be the community portal! --Cs california 09:29, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Needs logo--Cs california 23:33, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Any suggestions on where to put the logo? I kind of played around with the design, but in the end it seemed like it just took up valuable real estate to put it at the top when there is already one in the corner in the skin. --KyleH (talk) 23:36, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism

How do you revert an article to it's previous version? besides just copying and pasting from the compare version bit in history. - Demandred82

There isn't much we can do right now other than copying and pasting. I've bookmarked the usernames so that once someone here gets admin right, we can IP block. - AlphaTwo

You can revert to a previous version by clicking on the date in the history page and then pressing the edit button. At the top, you'll see "WARNING: You are editing an out-of-date revision of this page. If you save it, any changes made since this revision will be lost.", but that's ok. Then save it, and the reversion is complete. - Adan Aileron 09:44, 2 Nov 2005 (EST)

With our recent assault on the Main Talk Page, should we consider moving to a registration based editing system?

I don't think so. Maybe this talk page ought to be locked, but making people register before they can edit pages would keep good people from editing. As you can see someone just registered and immediately vandalized this page anyway, so it wouldn't even really keep the vandals away. -- Oddity 01:46, 14 Nov 2005 (CST)

If there is a way to tag someone for a ban I missed it. Is there currently, should there be?--Porphyria Plan 09:49, 14 Nov 2005 (CST)

Refreshing...

Why doesn't refreshing the page allow us to see our revisions? They seem to only be visible if one clears the cache. I don't think this is the case with most other wiki's... (edit/update: I have no idea what was going on - it appears to work fine now.)

Ctrl F5 is a shortcut to force the browser to redownload the page. I think there is some serverside setting that fixes it, too, but I'm not sure.

-Herschel 19:50, 7 Jun 2005 (CDT)

Well, I can see changes without having to clear my cache or refresh. Maybe it's 'cause I'm using Firefox. --Akimbo 20:04, 7 Jun 2005 (CDT)

I'm using Firefox, and I get the same thing. --Orikae

I honestly don't know what the problems are, but I've never edited an article on Wikipedia and then tried to refresh it. Does someone want to try that? Keep in mind that this isn't running on dedicated hardware, and what I can do to fix it if it's server-side (it sounds more like a local caching issue in general) is going to be pretty limited, if anything at all.

Safari shows it upon refresh for me. Firefox will show all updates if you do a shift-refresh on the page if you're having problems. Someone want to test the caching on Wikipedia proper and then get back to me? --Achernar

I suggest adding a request for a Firefox search plugin in that little help-needed section --Akimbo 14:27, 8 Jun 2005 (CDT)

Recreated the logo and saved it in a format where it wouldn't be JPEG'd like the current one. For any mods who can change the page, it's called Encgamia.png.

I replaced it. Thanks for the work.--Echo 09:52, 10 Jun 2005 (CDT)

Are you guys gonna get a logo for the upper left hand corner of the site?

Creating New Pages

Why can't we create new pages unless thier already hyperlinked?

You can create a new page. You just have to enter it in the url: http://www.strategema.net/index.php?title=BLANK Replace the blank with whatever you want the new page to be called. -- Jfarer

Deletion

I uploaded an image AND the thumbnail for it, but apparently that wasn't necessary. Am I able to delete images? If not, here is the unused image. Sorry about that. -Seaneseor

Changing Page Name

I accidentilly created a page with a misspelled name how do I fix that?

Click the "Move" tab at the top.

Resurrection

Just wanted to point out...Even though, as the front page says, we are "halfway" done with the transfer, those are only the legitimate articles. There are still over 5,000 categories, discussion pages, redirects, images, and more to transfer over from the old site. --Evisruc 00:13, 18 June 2006 (PDT)

Forums

Why get rid of the forums login link?--AlphaTwo 06:50, 18 August 2006 (PDT)

Dunno. But if you're looking for it, it's still linked in the Community Portal. --Evisruc 12:13, 21 August 2006 (PDT)
I got rid of the blog entry link, not the forums entry link, because I wasn't able to give it the attention is deserved. I will gladly resurrect it at some point in the future. --Achernar 08:52, 22 August 2006 (PDT)

Logo

So, I'm guessing most of you don't like the current logo, so any suggestions for new ones (and a new favicon while you're at it)? --User:Skizzerz/sig 21:56, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

i've made a new one Image:Wiki_wide_fzy.png, you can see it on all the different skin background colors at User:Uberfuzzy/logo if you do use it, i give what ever legal permission i need to to release it. --Uberfuzzy 06:33, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

CheatBase

This wiki wants to combine with Egamia, how would it go about that? -PatPeter 04:14, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Great let me ask one of the wiki staff --Cs california 08:18, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
I am asking everyone for a poll to see if they want to merge. It can be found here

Manual of style

We have Help:Contents/Manual of Style, but the main page links to Wikipedia. I can't fix it because main page is protected. -Afker 07:19, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Done! --Achernar 15:47, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Game index

Hi eGamia people. I wanted to help you out by creating more information about tabletop role-playing games. On first looking at the front page, it strikes me that there is no index of games. Would this be a useful thing to have, maybe sorted by type (computer, board, card, dice, etc)? Fw190a8 21:09, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Agree. Currently the "browsability" of this wiki is pretty low... -Afker 04:48, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Categories are pretty much all over the place before I was even an admin so I guess we need to find a way to reorganize. Too bad noone know how to make a bot :( because it would be useful --Cs california 07:34, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Reorganize

Plans to reorganize Egamia see Egamia: Reorganize --Cs california 08:27, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Sales information

It would be nice to have a sales wiki that details a whole bunch of videogame and console sales and market share information (starting all the way back to the NES era (or earlier)). I know Neogaf is really into this. A wiki would be even better to store all the information into one place. We could have snapshots in time like in 1994, SNES had NN% market share and Sega had NN%. Or Zelda LTTP sells X amount in first month. W3stfa11 17:07, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Created the wiki at http://vgsales.gamepedia.com w3stfa11 03:37, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

New and notable

Hey, Age of Conan is releasing tomorrow (20. may in the US, 23. may in Europe). Would it be possible to have AoC Wiki added to "new and notable"? Zido [Talk] [Contribs] 09:59, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Custom Robo pleasepleaseplease!

What we need is a Custom Robo wiki. Custom Robo is like the best games ever, and information on the games, parts, etc. would be awesome! SOmebody! Hear my plea!

Try actually searching before asking... it's right here. --Skizzerz 23:28, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Hits counter

How do I put something on the Wiki to monitor traffic? DillyDally 03:08, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Ask a wiki staff, I dont think you can without toggling some of the media wiki features.--Cs california 09:04, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

layout edit

I changed the DOM layout of the Main Page a bit so that the top of the left (wide) and right (narrow) columns align. -Afker All hail AliceSoft! 03:14, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Looks odd to me because I use monobook.js--Cs california 09:02, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, feel free to change it back... but... how come Monobook doesn't have the big square ad??? o_O""" -Afker All hail AliceSoft! 05:40, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I think more people use Monaco so I will leave it as is. It will just have to look odd for me. The Ad box is rectangular and on the side for Monobook. --Cs california 08:07, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I've done a tweak by killing the main page tags while keeping the look more or less the same on Monaco. Let me know how it looks to you on Monobook! -Afker All hail AliceSoft! 18:08, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Nice job it looks great!--Cs california 10:17, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Broken

Ugh, all the stuff is being thrown up everwhere with messy sidebar overlaps (this is using Monaco skin). --YOWUZA TALK 2 ME! 17:48, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Question

How come Wika Gaming looks really poo compared with Wiki Entertainment, can't the logo be bigger with a nicer theme than the normal one --Kennydude 20:38, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Traffic growth

Seems like the fastest-growing wikis post hasn't been update in a while... why isn't this automated by now? Philnelson 20:15, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

It's probably hard to automate. For anything that is "latest" or "recent" or "news", if it becomes stale it reflects poorly on the site. Is there an easy way for editors to look up the information and update it ourselves? -Afker All hail AliceSoft! 04:14, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
