Windows/386 2.01 is a graphical operating released by Microsoft Corporation on December 9, 1987. It runs as a graphical shell on top of an existing MS-DOS installation. Windows/286 2.01 was superseded by Windows/386 2.10. Support was officially discontinued on December 31, 2001.
Windows/386 2.01 allows application windows to overlap each other, unlike its predecessor Windows 1.0, which could only display only tiled windows. More sophisticated keyboard shortcuts were introduced, as well as support for VGA graphics.
