Windows 2.0 is a 16-bit graphical operating environment released by Microsoft Corporation on December 9, 1987. It runs as a graphical shell on top of an existing MS-DOS installation. It was discontinued on December 31, 2001.

It allows application windows to overlap each other, unlike its predecessor Windows 1.0, which could only display only tiled windows. More sophisticated keyboard shortcuts were introduced, as well as VGA graphics.
