Windows 98 Second Edition (often shortened to Windows 98 SE) is an updated release of Windows 98 released on May 5, 1999. Among its features were fixes for many minor issues, improved WDM audio and modem support, an update to Internet Explorer (from 4.0 to 5.0), Web Folders, DirectX 6.1 (which introduced DirectMusic and an improved DirectSound), Windows Media Player 6.2, Microsoft NetMeeting 3.0, and Windows Management Information.
