Xbox Series X, previously known under the codename Project Scarlett and announced as part of a new range of consoles under the Xbox Series brand,[1] is an upcoming ninth-generation home console developed by Microsoft Corporation. It was formally announced at E3 2019, while the name and console appearance were revealed on December 13, 2019. It is the successor to the Xbox One X. Technical specifications were released on March 16, 2020. On September 9, 2020, the release date of November 10, 2020 was confirmed with pre-orders available for both the Xbox Series X and its sister console that was announced on the same day, the Xbox Series S, as of September 22, 2020. On the same day, Microsoft also announced that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will also include EA Play for consoles and PCs at no extra charge.
