Ayane is a kunoichi (female ninja) of the Mugen Tenshin Clan (Hajin Mon Village), known for her purple outfits, dislike of her half-sister Kasumi, and her fiery attitude that has earned her the nickname of "Female Tengu." She is skilled in Mugen Tenshin Style Ninjitsu Hajin Mon.

Backstory[ | ]

Ayane was conceived when Raidou, exiled brother of Shindin, raped Shindin's wife Ayame. While this made Ayane half-sister to Kasumi and Hayate, her mother couldn't bear to look at her without being reminded of the rape, and Shindin, leader of the Mugen Tenshin Clan, wanted nothing to do with the child. Therefore, Ayane was sent away from the Tenjin Mon village by Shindin, to live with the leader of the Hajin Mon Mugen Tenshin, Genra. Genra raised Ayane as his own, and Ayane came to consider him to be her father.

As time went on, Ayane was raised in partial secrecy and became a powerful ninja under her foster father's tutelage, all the while having to assist the Mugen Tenshin from the shadows while Kasumi starred in the limelight, causing Ayane to develop a distinct dislike of Kasumi. Upon discovering that Ayame was her mother, Ayane's dislike of Kasumi turned into jelousy, and then hatred. While she hates Kasumi, she secretly admires her half-brother, Hayate.

Ayane eventually found herself assisting a Master Ninja named Murai at the age of 14. During this, she lended aid to Ryu Hayabusa during his quest to avenge the attack on his clan.

Later, Ayane was assisting Hayate in defending a village from an attack by none other than Raidou, her exiled father. Fueled by rage, she attacked Raidou without waiting for Hayate and was easily defeated. Hayate, unable to stop Raidou on his own, was forced to use an energy attack known as the Torn Sky Blast; however, using this skill allowed Raidou to immediately discover its implementation and he too used the energy attack. They collided in midair and ultimately the explosion flung Hayate against a tree, paralyzing him.

Shortly afterwards, Kasumi broke the code of her clan and became a runaway Shinobi in order to seek her brothers attacker and get revenge. By forsaking the code, she was marked for death and Ayane was chosen to hunt her down and kill her.

Dead or Alive[ | ]

While she didn't officially compete in the Dead or Alive World Combat Championship, it's likely she was there in some capacity, watching Kasumi from the shadows. Likely she didn't kill Kasumi then in order to see if she would succeed in avenging Hayate.

Dead or Alive 2[ | ]

Her first official entry into the World Combat Championship, Ayane joined in still under orders to kill Kasumi. During the tournament, Helena accused her of assassinating her mother, a claim which Ayane neither confirmed or denied. Ultimately she was unable to kill Kasumi, though Hayate returned to the clan, fully restored.

Dead or Alive 3[ | ]

Ayane joined the third World Combat Championship soley to put her foster-foster Genra, out of his misery. DOATEC had captured him and turned him into Project: Omega, making him into a one man slaughter-house. Ayane, so focused on this goal, even offered to leave Kasumi alone, being more concerend with dealing with Genra than with her duty to the clan. After finishing off Genra, she took his energy weapon and burned his body in an impromtu funeral.

Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball[ | ]

Like the rest of the female cast of the DOA series, Ayane was invited to Zach Island under the pretense of the fourth DOA World Combat Championship, only to find that it did not exist.
