So I have looked around with a few categories and I've noticed there's several for the same thing. What I do know is that the wiki has one category for games per series and one for all of the pages surrounding any franchise. So far it sounds cool right? But there's this issue where each of those examples have several categories for the same thing, so what I want to discuss is which one to use. I'll break down each category below.

For games per franchise
Category:Games by Franchise - This is one with games divided by franchise, this was created for this new wiki actually it seems like
Category:Games by Series - But then we have this one which is exactly the same in purpose, which has been on the wiki since forever really.

For virtually anything else connected to a franchise
Category:Video game franchises - This one is a bit of both, most categories has only games but others have a mix of games and other things. This one was added from wikipedia, but people seems to have added to it throughout the years. It also houses the series pages added from wikipedia.
Category:Video game series - This one is exactly like the one above, except it was created on this wiki before the wikipedia mess.
Category:Fictional_Universe - Then we have this which also collects all of the other random stuff for a franchise, it isn't big, but it looks better.

But the question is, what do we use? Where do we put games and where do we put everything else? It's better if this is solved and the other not used be deleted. --Tveilor (talk) 16:51, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

  • The words series and franchise mean different things. Series is a linear succession of video games, while Franchise covers spin-offs, sequels, and such.--BritishCynic (talk) 19:02, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
