Guzzler is a stand up coin operated arcade game developed and manufactured by Tehkan Ltd., and Licensed to Centuri for United States distribution in 1983. It was released as a arcade conversion kit often in Qix cabinets. The marquee and control panel were updated as the only changes in the conversion kit.

Game Concept[ | ]

Guzzler is a maze-style arcade game. From the monitor shows a bird's-eye view of the playing field where the player controls the character to shoot liquid to kill monsters. Each level is a maze of varying complexity; some levels have numerous walls, and others hardly have anything in them but fires and puddles. Monsters are generated from 4 colorful fires that chase the player around and which must be destroyed to complete level. To clear each level, players expel liquid to extinguish the four fires.

The character can attack with three blasts of liquid before becoming empty. With each blast of liquid, the character moves faster and gets closer to being an empty outline with pink shoes. When not full of drink the character is a shell of a sprite, but can move more quickly. Liquid supply is replenished by drinking (guzzling) from puddles or other beverages. Occasionally, an alcoholic beverage will appear in the center of the screen. If the player picks up this beverage, liquid supply fills to maximum and the fires temporarily freeze.
