No Man's Sky is an Action/Adventure video game developed and published by Hello Games. Released worldwide in August 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows, and for Xbox One in July 2018, the game is centered around four pillars: exploration, survival, combat, and training, and takes place in a procedurally generated open world universe with over 18 quintillion planets. It is through this procedural generation system that planets have their own ecosystems with various unique forms of flora and fauna, and various sentient alien species may either fight the player or trade within planetary systems. Advancing through the game is achieved by mining for resources to power and improve their equipment, buying and selling resources using credits earned by documenting flora and fauna. The end goal is to seek out the mystery surrounding the Atlas, an entity at the center of the universe.
