Octillery (Japanese オクタン, Okutan?, Okutank in the original Japanese versions) is a fictional species of Pokémon in the Pokémon franchise.

Octillery's name is most likely a combination of octopus (Oc) and artillery (tillery), due to the attacks it can learn that usually end with beam and other similar suffixes.

It is probably the same with Okutank, except with 'tank' instead of 'artillery'.

Although Octillery is more powerful than its evolved form, Remoraid, it is also much, much slower. However, it can now learn moves like Sludge Bomb, Giga Impact, and even Flash Cannon. It is the only known Pokémon so far to learn Octazooka via level up, though there are a few others that can learn the move via breeding.

Characteristics

Octillery is a octopus Pokémon with eight tentacles. Its body is red, its nose is elongated, and the suction cups on its tentacles are yellow along with two bumps on its head. Its eyes are always half-closed and are a pure onyx shade. The bumps on the female Octillery's head are much smaller as are the suction cups.

Although Octillery is more powerful than its evolved form, Remoraid, it is also much, much slower. However, it can now learn moves like Sludge Bomb, Giga Impact, and even Flash Cannon. It is the only known Pokémon so far to know Octazooka.

Shiny Octillery's body is a tan color while its suction cups and bumps are a pale yellow.

Not much is known about this Pokémon's diet, but it probably feeds on fish or algea.

In the Video Games

There are no Octillery in Red, Blue, Ruby or Sapphire. Octillery are rare in the Safari Zone (Fishing) in Emerald. FireRed has no Octillery. Evolve Remoraid in FireRed and Pokémon Colleseum. Pokémon XD has no Octillery.

PokeDex Entries:

Ruby/Sapphire: Octillery grabs on to its foe using its tentacles. This Pokémon tries to immobilize it before delivering the finishing blow. If the foe turns out to be too strong, it will spew ink to escape.

Emerald: It ensnares its foe in suction-cupped tentacles before delivering the finishing blow. If the foe turns out to be too strong, it will spew ink to escape.

FireRed: It instinctively sneaks into rocky holes. If it gets sleepy, it steals the nest of a fellow Octillery.

LeafGreen: It traps the enemies with its suction-cupped tentacles, then smashes them with its rock-heard head.

In the Anime

In episode 215, Octillery The Outcast, a trainer from the Whirl Islands tried, and succeeded, at getting one of his Remoraid to evolve.

In episode 21 of the Advanced Generation, Which Wurmple's Which, an Octillery landed on Max's head after the gang had gone fishing.

Harley, May's rival from AG, has an Octillery. It's debut was in episode 106 of the Advanced Generation, Harley Rides Again, and it had beaten May's Munchlax in the Wisteria Town Contest.
