You must rescue your girlfriend, being held hostage by a school's street gang!
This is a remake of sorts of River City Ransom, featuring new graphics and items and locales but lacking two-player support (the second character is computer controlled). The combat in the games are similar to the combat in the original River City Ransom, but with more of an action movie type feel to it. Punches and kicks are both executed professionally, with enemy literally flipping as they are defeated. There are also more weapons in the game that in the original.
Curiously enough, the new publisher (Atlus) went ahead and published this title without seeking permission to use the River City Ransom name. Luckily for them the current copyright holder decided not to take legal action despite having every right to do so. Due to the new game's arrival, his plans to make "River City Ransom 2" (the reason for which he bought rights to the name in the first place) have currently been shelved.
