Rock Star Ate My Hamster is a video game designed by Colin Jones and released by Codemasters in 1989 for multiple platforms, including ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Atari ST and Amiga. The game follows the story of Cecil Pitt and his employee Clive, who decide to switch their struggling theatrical agency for the music industry. They have one year to make it big by hiring up to four rock stars and starting with a small inheritance. The costs of hiring stars vary based on their popularity at the time, with Phil Collins being the most expensive and Gary Glitter the cheapest. The game's title is derived from a fictional incident in which Freddie Starr was rumored to have eaten a hamster in a sandwich. Winning the game requires achieving four gold records within the time limit. Despite being a game with a humorous tone, it still requires players to take their objective seriously.
