Shogun 2: Total War is a turn-based strategy video game. An entry in the Total War series, the game was developed by The Creative Assembly. The game's setting takes place in 16th century Japan. The new game picks up during the aftermath of the Onin War. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X in 2011.

Shogun 2 is about nine warring fiefdoms. The player takes on the role of one of nine of these warlords, each with a unique starting position and different political and military strengths. The scale is also different in terms of the presentation of the story. Instead of being the impersonal force guiding the destiny of your faction, you'll actually play as a person who has to negotiate the treacheries and loyalties of family politics.[1] One particularly novel development is the introduction of hero units based on mythologized historical figures like the warrior monk Benkei. The new battle engine will support up to 56,000 soldiers in a single battle,[2] making them significantly larger than in Napoleon, the previous game in the series.[3][4] First look gameplay [1]
