Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist is a video game published by Konami Digital Entertainment that allows players to replay actual events from the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime up to Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V.[1]

There are planned to be over 6,600 cards available, including the latest Pendulum Monsters, and 90 characters to duel against. There is add-on content available at launch, with additional Decks, Avatars, playable characters and Duels that can be obtained through 4 DLC packs. Online multi-player is also supported.

Gameplay[ | ]

Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist makes use of the ruleset current as of July 2015. This includes relatively recent changes, such as the ability for two Field Spell Cards to exist at once. Players may purchase card packs with the in-game currency, DP (or Duelist Points), and cards may also be obtained by beating opponents in the single-player campaign.

The game possesses a single-player campaign comprised of playing through historical duels between duelists as seen in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series'. Each duel is introduced with dialogue originally spoken in the episode(s) that the Duel was featured. When dueling in the campaign, a player may choose between whether to play with a self-constructed deck, or a deck based or inspired by the player whom you are dueling on behalf of, based upon the cards that duelist was shown using up until that point in the anime. After a duel in the campaign has been beaten, a "Reverse Duel" may be selected, where you play in place of the opposite player.

Losing a duel is not terminal; a player still receives a consolation prize of some DP, and a card for their collection. Beating an opponent for the first time unlocks their avatar, a Duelist Challenge involving that duelist, a deck recipe of their deck used in that duel, and more DP than if the player had lost.
